How do i get my parents to let me change my hair?

Well im a guy and i have like wavy shoulder length hair and i really want straight emo hair. Everyone says my hair is cool but I don't like it. I have been honest with my parents telling them I don't like it. But my Dad makes fun of me saying im like a girl and stuff for wanting to change it. My mother ignores my on the subject saying if I can get my dad to let me get the hair I want she will say ok as well. But right now I was straightening my hair and my Dad comes in and totally screws it up. By blowdrying it all poofy. I asked him why he will never let me have my hair the way I want it. He said to shut up and go to sleep. My parents are awesome but when it comes to my hair they just wont budge. Im about to start highschool and I really want this hair but my paren'ts dont respect my idea of wanting it. What can I do to make them let me have my hair the way I want it and be happy with me. This is killing me on the inside. Please help good people.

If you can get your parents to understand there are much more important things to worry about than how you wear your hair it can help. You're not doing drugs or flunking out of school and who knows you may change your mind but it's only a personal statement and you just want a chance to try something new. It won't "change" you forever and there's no harm in it. They have to pick their battles and hair is hardly worth a battle in the grand scheme of things. However keep in mind Dad's are fearful their sons might be gay if they care about things like this. Make it clear to your Dad that is not the issue here, just hair!

Haha, man, you won't get ANY help from the Yahoo Answers community. It just won't happen. If anybody answers at all, they'll call you a little kid and make fun of you. Actually, you never know, there might be one or two that'll be nice or somethin, whatever though. If they won't budge, they won't budge, there isn't any magical way to change your parents minds, believe me, I've tried. If they do not (like you and I both know they won't), you can just deal with it, I mean, it's only hair, there are plenty of things you can do with it that isn't "emo". If you can't deal with it you can continuously ask about it, that's what I did, and my parents let me keep my hair long. Or, you could just do it anyway. I, personally, like that idea, but whatever. With whatever you decide, good luck.

Okay, so maybe I was a bit off on the first part.... well I was close. O_o

Try talking to them again. This time be really serious about how much it means to you to have a change in your hairstyle. But if all else fails, then sadly, I'd have to say that you really can't do anything about it. You are still living with your parents and as much as it sucks, you have to abide by their rules even if it concerns your own body. I should know since I went through that most of high school. I didn't have a rebellious streak in me that is why whenever I wanted to try something different even if it only concerns my own body and wouldn't harm me in anyway possible, I still had to consult with my parents. I they let me, then I get to do what I want. So you either abide by their rules or go to a parlor and get your hair rebonded or something to get it straight. Hehe! By the time you get home and your parents goes ballistic with what you did, they won't be able to do anything with it anymore.

Unless they shave your hair.
