Anyone can be Emo. Emo is a state of mind. I don't think you have to necesarily follow the style of dress to be considered emo.

"emo" is actually a style of music.

but the way it is used now, it's a way to dress, and a supposed mind set.

I have seen several..and even goth ones. I think its great that more and more black teens are seeking other avenues besides superficial hip hip culture

My baby sister is emo although she hates labels....and she is most definitely black....I know both her parents. Of course she doesn't have emo hair...although I did hook her up once with an emo weave it was cut.

I dated a black guy who was emo, he had the hair and everything. He was a REAL emo and not the fakes ones you have out now a days.

Ive also dated a black guy who was gothic.

I have a friend who is African-American and incredibly emo/scene in style. She has the coolest hair ever too - she relaxed it but not completely straight so it's kind of messy/wavy and got it cut choppy and short in the back and really long in the front and she usually ties little bows in it at random spots. She got the style from a pic of Audrey Kitching on Buzznet.

Thats like saying a chinese dude can't be country. But I know one. And even tho its alternative country, he wants to dress all out.

Ok, so its not JUST like that. But still, that label doesn't have a race associated with it. You should just like whatever you like, and dress how you wanna dress, and to hell with the rest. Unless you use social acceptance as a crutch. Then, dress to the label and like the right songs.
