if you have the curly poofy hair there is really no way of getting around a flat iron if you want it too look really straight. Try sleeping with your hair in a towl right after you get out of the shower. That will get your hair really moisturized so it wont be dry and frizzy when you go to flat iron it. It also wouldnt hurt to put in a leave in conditioner when it is stilll slightly wet.

I'm not sure what you mean by "scene"..do you mean "sheen"..If so, I would not go for anything permanent. Paul Mitchell makes a dry hair wax.. you can use a bit of that and dry it straight and then a straightening iron..(NOT too hot!)..and when you do not want to go through all of the styling, you can use the same wax and dry with a diffuser or air dry. It will keep it from frizzing..

I have this weird emo kid living next door to me, well there two of them living together but there's one who really likes me, too much!

You're not alone. All that emo stuff leaves me flat, too. Cute layers and bangs and all that help enhance a girl's natural beauty; extreme hair detracts from much, doesn't it? Overdyed hair, spikes, puffy hair...all of that is too much for normalcy. I've always thought girls should follow the way their hair grows naturally and just keep it simple. Of course, looking at all the Goths and wackos running around, I suppose most people lost the ability to keep things simple long ago. If you're sticking with basic, cute hair, you're doing well, raee. Keep it up.

why the heck not? its fun, its fashion, and its a statement. hair grows back, and i highly doubt they will regret it, its a memory. i always had more of a radical hair cut then other girls my age, and i liked it. i have no regrets about my crazy hair cuts! why have the same type of hair styles your whole life/ you can get away with it when your younger, so go for it. live, try new things, and youll discover a whole lot more than staying in the same box your entire life.

When I was 15 or so I had emo hair, quite long in fact my hair grew at an exponential rate (prolly half an inch per month which is normal), I cut it off when I was 16. After taking zoloft for a year I noticed that my hair grew alot slower. Fast track to this year, I'm been trying to grow hair to emo-length for over 3 months and it is only two inches long. Actually my daughter was quite young when she took it, and she lost every hair on her head. She had to be pulled out of school because she was humiliated. I weaned her off the medication and homeschooled her. It took 2 years for her hair to grow back in but now I am glad I pulled her off of it... I feel like a terrible mother by not researching these meds her doctor wanted to put her on. But you trust your doctor and the doctor has to trust the pharmacy (manufacturer). Funny you should mention that. I have been taking Zoloft for a little over a year now. While I have long hair that I wear pulled back in a ponytail, I have not noticed it (or my facial hair) growing any slower. However, I do have a couple of bald patches on my face where the hair just flat-out stopped growing altogether. My dermatologist says that the problem is related to my thyroid (am I a mess or what? LOL!). He has given me cortisone injections to no avail. I would be curious as to whether the Zoloft is actually playing a role in this, as I have had thyroid issues for over ten years and the bald patches just started recently. Hmmm...

I believe labels segregate us. I know a lot of people wait until they know if a person is a democrat or republican before they decide to agree or disagree with what the person is saying without judging the actual content.

Yes-outward appearance definitely causes others to treat us differently. We all make certain assumptions about others based on their appearance-usually without even being aware of it. My teenage daughter has had trouble with teachers since she began dressing "punk" or goth or whatever. She's had to put up with a lot of **** that she didn't experience when she dressed more "preppy." She's artistic, a very talented artist who's just trying to find out who she is and other adults definitely have a problem with how she looks. If they took the time to get to know her they would find out she is a very responsible, sweet, funny and pretty girl. She's very understanding, smart and a great listener. She doesn't do drugs or drink, she's a Christian. But the collective "they" automatically assume she's a druggie because of her clothes, hair and music preference. I've spoken with her about it and encouraged her to be sure to be extra polite, friendly, and strive to make good grades if she's going to go "against the grain" outwardly if only to prove the bastards wrong. It makes me mad that people do that-but I'm the first to admit certain assumptions I have about people considered "white trash." We all do it. You really do have to strive to keep an open mind about people and remember there's a difference between using good judgment and being judgemental.

Absolutely. Regarding why, i can see this happening in my mind when i intend to label someone. Its one of the most stupid things one can do, and its in the field of time.

We cannot understand people around us without labeling them, but we are taught to attach negative connotations to almost every group labeled. We're taught from our parents, schools, and society in general. It's something that, unfortunately, will always be around.

Yes. It prevents us from really knowing a person. For instance, most of my friends are Democrats and I am a Republican. It there was such thing as labeling (and the fact that my friends and I are really stupid and pathetic) we wouldn't be friends. But we don't pay attention to that and we are still friends who fully understand who we are as people/

I think they use gel or maybe moose. Just take some gel and spike random pieces of hair up. So sexy :)

I suggest just going for it, that's the only way you'll truly see what it looks like! I'm sure it'll be awesome, but if you don't like it then there's plenty of stuff you could do with it. You can straighten your hair as much as you want as long as you use a heat protectant. You should buy a good one from your stylist if you're going to be using heat alot.

I suggest just going for it, that's the only way you'll truly see what it looks like! I'm sure it'll be awesome, but if you don't like it then there's plenty of stuff you could do with it. I have a friend who is African-American and incredibly emo/scene in style. She has the coolest hair ever too - she relaxed it but not completely straight so it's kind of messy/wavy and got it cut choppy and short in the back and really long in the front and she usually ties little bows in it at random spots. i think going to a barber shop is a bad idea. Not because i don't like barbers but because they might not be up on the latest trends. Visit some salons and tell them what you are looking for. I'm a 18 years old male who has been taking zoloft for two years now. When I was 15 or so I had emo hair, quite long in fact my hair grew at an exponential rate (prolly half an inch per month which is normal), I cut it off when I was 16. After taking zoloft for a year I noticed that my hair grew alot slower. Fast track to this year, I'm been trying to grow hair to emo-length for over 3 months and it is only two inches long. Actually my daughter was quite young when she took it, and she lost every hair on her head. She had to be pulled out of school because she was humiliated. I weaned her off the medication and homeschooled her. It took 2 years for her hair to grow back in but now I am glad I pulled her off of it... I feel like a terrible mother by not researching these meds her doctor wanted to put her on. But you trust your doctor and the doctor has to trust the pharmacy (manufacturer). So good luck with this and just research it...

Funny you should mention that. I have been taking Zoloft for a little over a year now. While I have long hair that I wear pulled back in a ponytail, I have not noticed it (or my facial hair) growing any slower. However, I do have a couple of bald patches on my face where the hair just flat-out stopped growing altogether. My dermatologist says that the problem is related to my thyroid (am I a mess or what? LOL!). He has given me cortisone injections to no avail. I would be curious as to whether the Zoloft is actually playing a role in this, as I have had thyroid issues for over ten years and the bald patches just started recently. Hmmm...

That's my answer, btw - it enables people whom lack self-confidence in their intelligence to join a stereotype known for being emotionally superior, and therefore one cannot attack them for their intellectual short-comings because of the instant response of "Dude, why're you being so egotistical" or "Hey, if you don't want to talk about it in a civilised and constructive manner then i won't listen to you".

okay i used to have pretty long hair for a guy and i liked it but my mom made me go for a hair cut so i decided i would go for one of those emo hair over eye thing i even brought in a picture.

but the hair dresser f.u.c.k.e.d yp and gave me a mushroom cut.

now don't get me wrong i like my hair to be differnt but i hate it it's not even a cool one like that kid from boy meets world has.

now i can't thing of anything to do because some of my hair is long and some of it is short so if i want to change it i need to cut it the length of the hair in the back of my head. and now it's gonna take me for ever to grow my hair back so i can have it in that emo style.

so now i'm thinking i cut it short and either my whole head blue or just have little stripes going through it.
